#FlashbackFriday: The Marine Behind Rustic Marine

We thought we’d give you a look at the Marine behind the Rustic Marine on this #FlashbackFriday!

AJ enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September of 2002. Serving as a machine gunner with the 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, he invaded Iraq in 2003. In 2004, he fought in the Battle of Fallujah. This battle, also known as Operation Vigilant Resolve, was an operation to root out extremist elements of Fallujah, as well as an attempt to apprehend the perpetrators of the killing of four U.S. Blackwater private military contractors in March 2004. After two tours and his years of service, AJ was honorably discharged in 2005. Here are some photos from his time in Fallujah and Umm Qasr.

Today, aside from operating the Rustic Marine, AJ (and Lindsay) live in Michigan and are raising their 5 daughters. Yes, 5 girls. All girls. 😳😂 From our family to yours, we sincerely appreciate your support of our veteran owned and operated business.

Semper fi!
