How To Hang Our Floating Shelves!
Our most commonly asked question from people ordering our floating shelves is “how do you hang them?!” There are many ways to hang floating shelves- and many products/brackets out there to purchase- but we include a custom wooden frame/bracket with each shelf, to make it as easy as possible for you to get up on your wall!
You simply screw the wooden bracket into the wall. We recommend either finding a stud, or using an anchor (or both!). Ideally, you should attach floating shelves (or anything else you’re hanging) to a wall stud, as this will give you the most supportive base for your project. The best way to find a stud is to use a stud finder, sliding it along the wall horizontally until the stud finder indicates where the stud is. Once you’ve located the studs, use a pencil to mark where they are. If you’re attempting to hang them where a stud is not available though, you’re not out of luck! Using an anchor will help you build a sturdy foundation for your shelf. Before deciding which anchors to buy, consider what you want your shelves to hold. Anchors are rated for how much weight they can support, but to be safe, it’s best to stay on the low end of an anchor’s max weight rating.
Once our wooden frame/bracket is secured to the wall, you can simply slide your shelf right onto the frame! Depending on what you plan to put on your shelf, you may also want to attaching the shelf to the bracket to make it extra sturdy, by drilling through the top of the shelf down into the frame. (I have four of these shelves in two different rooms- two of them I did this extra step, two of them I didn’t… so, totally your call! Doing this will definitely make them more secure if you plan to place heavier items on your shelf!)
And that’s it! Then it’s time to decorate and enjoy! 🙂 To view our shelves, you can check out our shop here, see more photos on Instagram, or message us on Facebook with any questions!
