Organize Your Pantry On A Budget!

Last week, I told you guys I found some great pantry bins and containers, that were not only functional, but pretty inexpensive! At least compared to all those super fancy name-brand containers you see all the other bloggers use! Because let’s face it- we’d all love to have our house look those Pinterest and Instagram photos… but, um, do they forget we all don’t have a Chip & Joanna size budget?!

So… you’ll never guess where I got my IG-inspired pantry organization from! Everything is from ONE store… drum roll, please…..

WALMART!! Yes, all my containers and bins came from Walmart and nothing was more than like $8! Here’s alllll the deets!

  1. Save space by using jars for dry goods! The first thing that had to go were all the boxes. They took up WAY too much space, were half empty, and looked a mess! So, I used two different types of containers to store all of our cereal, our pasta, our chips, snacks, etc. (Truthfully, I would have used all of the top containers, but they were more expensive, and I just couldn’t justify it. So… we got the cheapies for the pasta.)
  2. Larger items or awkwardly shaped containers don’t make for an organized space. Instead of leaving them loose, throw them in some bins! I prefer white bins- as the light and brightness helps to make the pantry looks cleaner and larger!
  3. Put rarely used items higher up, then canned vegetables, sauces, etc. Keep what you use every day at eye level.
  4. Make packing school lunches and summer snacks easier by having one bin full of snacks already rationed out into serving sizes, so kids can easily grab and go without rummaging through the entire pantry!
  5. These clear bins are perfect for handwritten labels! They’re super cute and popular, too! I opted to skip the labels for a more minimalistic look.

Here’s what we used! (with price and link!)

Top shelf containers: Rubbermaid Square Food Storage Canister, 2 qt., Clear; cost: $2.47!! They have a clear body, white screwtop lid, are super lightweight, and get the job done! For less than $3, load up on these! (Larger sizes available for an extra dollar or two!)

Second shelf containers: Better Homes & Gardens Square Flip-Tite Storage Container; cost: $7.97. This is a much thicker/sturdier container, and the top suctions closed tightly. (Available in different sizes and sets.)

Bins: Mainstays Deco Basket – White; cost: $2.96/small, $6.92/large. Perfect sizes for most standard pantries, sturdy enough to hold a lot of “stuff”, and wipes clean much easier than wicker baskets or cloth bins!
