How To Style Your Three Tiered Tray for Valentines Day!

Holy moly! How is tomorrow February 14th already?! January took like 75 days… but this month is just FLYING by! Did you have a chance to decorate for Valentines Day yet? If not- no worries! Pull out your three tiered tray and let’s throw together a little Valentines decor!

First of all, if you don’t have a three tiered tray, you need one. Every house needs one. And they are SO fun to constantly change up for the seasons or holidays. We have this one– I love the how the metal contrasts with the rest of my decor. If you’re looking for something a little smaller though, we have been eyeing this shorter two tiered tray from the Creative Co-op!

Anyways… back to styling them! Here are three simple tips to styling your tiered trays!

Choose your favorite seasonal/holiday items: small things like little signs, mugs, colorful candles, candies. For Valentines Day think heart shaped plates, “love” saying signs, Hershey Kisses/treats, red + pink straws, pink candles! If you don’t want to go full out holiday- just choose items with a similar and appropriate color theme! Ex: greens and brights for spring, oranges for fall, red and greens for Christmas, pinks and reds for Valentines Day!
Add in some staples: whenever I style my trays, there’s always a few pieces that stay in, even if I’m changing it up for a new holiday! I use them as “fillers”, and they’re things that can go with ANY season or holiday. Things like wooden casa beads, white candles, wooden/rattan decorative balls, cotton stems, a few simple pieces of greenery, etc.
Vary your heights! This is where most people go wrong. Try not to choose items that are all the same size or shape. Varying heights and sizes are key to styling a well-put-together tray! Place larger items on the top layer to add some height to your tray- the taller, thinner the item, will help keep your eye traveling upwards. Start with your biggest pieces and use the smaller items to fill the empty spaces.
Don’t overthink it! These are supposed to fun and easy! A quick, simple way to bring some holiday cheer or to show off some of your favorite funny signs, or family treasured photos. And no need to run out and buy all sorts of stuff- the Target dollar section often is the perfect place to find a new item or two!
